Went out for a run tonight, and made the what is becoming my usual route with my regular running buddy (Bertolli). As I discussed in a previous post, my neighborhood is approx. 2.8 around. So tonight, this fat kid did not wait long enough between his genoa salami sandwiches for dinner and his run. At about 1.5 miles the stomach was getting after me in a bad way, so I changed the pace to a walk for about .2 miles which threw little Bert off completely. But since it did not last long and we picked the pace back up for the last (give or take) mile. Followed all of this up with a .2 mile cool down.
Now, my runs have not gotten longer yet, but tonight felt much easier to make the lap than previous runs. I am also planning on running more often than I have since we started this training. I need to pick up the pace or at least the distance little by little, so I feel by running a little bit more often I can make my goals more obtainable.
That's it for me tonight, maybe another run tomorrow after work with little Bertolli. I might even put a picture of the little guy on here before too long.
Even though I successfully raced in the MPSA State Track Meet 2 mile after eating a hotdog and shake from Sonic, I don't recommend going for a run after genoa salami sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteLike Garett, I think you should try and get a few extra miles in this week. I'd worry more about the miles and less about the pace. We'll start worrying about pace when we get there with the miles.
