Saturday, November 21, 2009 - Ryan

Just finished a great run with Leanna on Highland Colony and the Ridgeland Trail. Team In Training is also training for the RNR Mardi Gras Marathon and they were out there today. Leanna has done Team In Training before, but I haven't. It's such a great cause (benefitting leukemia and lymphoma research) and its really great to see so many people in Madison / Ridgeland A) supporting the cause and B) getting in shape. I recently read an article that Mississippi is still the most unhealthy state in the country, so its great to see people doing something about it. If anyone reading this is wanting to run a marathon for the first time, give TNT's website a look.

We ran 12 miles at 8:29 pace and then I ran 4 more at about 6:10 pace. I'm really starting to like this heart rate monitor. It basically tells you how much harder you can run. I tried to keep it around 85% max for the last 4 miles and found it much harder to get your heart rate from 85% max to 90% max than it is from 70% max to 85% max.
